One of the benefits of a bulletin, which comes out quarterly, is that there is much to write about because I have three months worth of information to include. In addition to the usual Friday evening services, each of the upcoming months contains the celebration of a holiday often thought of as a holiday for children, but only one of them actually is . . . and it is not the one you would probably think.
The 15th day of the month of Shevat, similar to Groundhog’s Day, marks the nearness of Spring. Also known as the New Year of the Trees, Tu B’Shevat is supposedly the day when the sap within the trees begins to move once again. Based on the Passover Seder, the educational experience we use to celebrate this holiday includes eating a variety of fruits and nuts. This is not a meal, and is not limited to children. We can each use a reminder that Spring is right around the corner. So, please join us Friday evening, February 3rd at 7:30.
Then, on Friday, March 9th (at 7:30) we will be enjoying the holiday of Purim. This holiday is a unique opportunity to get out of your comfort zone, dress in costume, drink (if you are not driving), and listen to the story of Queen Esther. This holiday is NOT exclusively for children but, rather, to help reach the child in each of us. Therefore, once again, I urge you to join us and help us celebrate.
The Temple now has a Facebook page. Look us up under “Temple Beth Sholom” (there are several but it shouldn’t be difficult to find us) or you can click on the link at right.
Temple Beth Sholom is pleased to announce that our bi-monthly bulletin is now available in PDF format. If you would like to receive the bulletin ONLY in PDF format via email and NOT receive a paper copy through “snail” mail, please click here and let us know your preference. Making the bulletin available as a PDF file saves time, money, and trees!

In 1986 Temple Beth Sholom acquired 47 double monument lots and 14 single marker lots in a section indicated as Section 15 at Woodside Cemetery. This is located at the intersection of Verity Parkway and Fourteenth Avenue in Middletown, Ohio.
It is a mitzvah to be buried in a Jewish cemetery, to be sure your family needs are met for now and the future I will be available to meet with you and discuss this personally.
Our arrangement includes perpetual care. We have secured the current value and will review the section, in private at your convenience.
A double plot Monument site is $3200.
A single marker site is $850.
