This is an important meeting for our Temple and includes election of Board members and discussion of other important business.
Our first annual Trinkets and Treasures sale will be held Sunday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the basement of the Temple. Please come and shop for a bargain and invite your friends and neighbors to do the same. On Saturday, April 30 from noon to 2:00 volunteers will be at the Temple to accept your donations. If you need to have items picked up from your home call Dick to arrange for pick up. Thanks to all who have donated to date and the volunteers who are working so hard to make this event a success. Purim - We will have a new format for the Purim Celebration this year! Instead of a Friday service, we will be celebrating Purim on Sunday, March 20. Please join us for a reading from the megillah at 12:30, followed by a deli lunch. Costumes are traditional and encouraged! The cost for the lunch will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The Temple will be holding a rummage sale on Sunday, May 1 from 9am to 3pm. Proceeds from the sale will help replenish Tree of Life Funds for scholarships for our children to attend Jewish camp. Tell your friends and neighbors, and check your closets and cupboards for items you can donate for the sale.

On Friday evening, March 25, Rabbi Kushner will deliver the sermon at the Torah service at Temple Beth Sholom. Rabbi Kushner serves Shaarei Shalom East Bay Reform Temple in Bellmore, Long Island. He is a graduate of Columbia University, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. He is the co-author of Jewish Ethnopsychiatry and he lectures often at Molloy College.
On Saturday, March 26, First Presbyterian Church of Middletown OH, will also host Rabbi Paul Kushner as their visiting scholar. Rabbi Kushner and Rev. Dr. Tim Doty will present the program in the Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave. in Middletown. They will discuss words and practices common to both Jews and Christians, but which mean something different in the two traditions, such as: messiah, sin, fasting & self-denial, and even God. Lunch will be provided and there will be plenty of time for Q&A. A kosher option is available.
Rev. Doty, Pastor at First Presbyterian, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Harvard Divinity School, and Yale University, where he earned a doctorate in ancient Near Eastern languages. Tim was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1984 and has served churches in Independence, Missouri; Leavenworth, Kansas; and in Middletown. He has also taught religion and ancient history at Saint Paul School of Theology and at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
